Amanda Bynes – The next Lindsay Lohan?

Fresno, CA — People were used to seeing Amanda Bynes as that cute little kid on that ‘90s TV show All That. She grew up in front of the cameras and had her slew of success on several TV shows like The Amanda Show and What I Like About You. She also starred in moderately successful movies like She’s the Man, Sydney White, Easy A, Hair Spray, and What a Girl Wants. But her wholesome and bubbly image seems to be existent only on-screen. There seems to be a more Lindsay Lohan side to Amanda-manda; she seems to enjoy getting inebriated lately and getting behind the wheel.

amanda bynes the next lindsay lohanAmanda Bynes has been slapped with a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) charge for the antics she pulled off last April when she sideswiped a cop’s car and tried to flee the scene. She is facing one count of misdemeanor DUI but will not face any charges regarding the hit-and-run cop car incident. The prosecutor’s office is requesting the court to modify or enhance her sentence since she had refused a chemical test and a breathalyzer test to determine the level of Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) in her system at the time of arrest.

In California, if you get stopped by the police under the suspicion that you are driving under the influence of alcohol, you have the right to refuse the breathalyzer test but you cannot refuse the chemical test. Due to implied consent laws, you have to submit to at least one of the sobriety tests. Refusal to take the tests can result in a citation or suspension of driving privileges.

Now back to Amanda, apparently, she is assuming that since she refused the sobriety tests, the police does not have any evidence against her that she was intoxicated at the time but the state can also use stubbornness as evidence and revoke her license.

According to Amanda, she claims that she enjoys going out but does not drink. Well, there are several videos that had been uploaded by entertainment news media outlet, TMZ ,showing Amanda Bynes being carried by her friends because she is too inebriated to walk on her own, there was even an incident where a paparazzi advised her to let someone else drive because she was obviously intoxicated when she got behind the wheel of her SUV.

It is amazing on how she is able to evade so many things; back in 2007 she was involved in 2 car wrecks and no charges were filed against her. Earlier this year, around March, cops pulled her over for talking on her cell phone while driving and then before the police had the chance to hand her the ticket, she made a break for it. And then there was that DUI arrest in April wherein she sideswiped the right rear panel of the police vehicle. But apparently, she has not been remorseful or learned anything from the mishaps she had gotten herself into because hours after her arrest, she got into the clubbing scene again.

As for the DUI charge, her attorney had filed a not guilty plea. If she is found guilty, she could face up to 48 hours of jail time, the maximum is 6 months but since this is a misdemeanor and there is an overcrowding issue in jails, she might just end up with a fine or DUI school. She even posted on Twitter addressed to President Obama stating: “Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me.”

Celebrities always think they are above the law and could almost get away with everything but the sad thing is, what if Amanda gets into another mishap and an innocent life becomes a victim? The judge should make it clear or have more guts to make sure that these kind of people who are irresponsible behind the wheel of a vehicle be allowed to drive at all.

Amanda Bynes is like Lindsay Lohan in the making, they start out bubbly, sweet and fresh and then the temptations of fame and fortune get to them. By the time they are already in too deep, they no longer have any career. Hope this does not happen to Amanda. Hollywood does not need another Lindsay Lohan.
