Roseville – Election month is just around the corner and for a lot of people and agenda groups it also seems that ’tis also the season to be oversensitive to any kind of issue. Who would think that a fast food franchise such as Chic-Fil-A would become a political symbol and merely eating any of their sandwiches can put any politician on the forefront of headlines and be the topic of endless debates?
It all started when Chic-Fil-A President Dan Cathy donated money to the opponents of same-sex marriage being conservative on his views about rights of the LGBT community. But since it is indeed election season, politicians and the LGBT jumped on the opportunity to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
The Alderman of Chicago, Joe Moreno immediately capitalized the opportunity to turn it into something political. In a pompous flaunting of the power he commands, he brazenly stated: “There are consequences for one’s actions, statements and beliefs. Because of this man’s ignorance, I will deny Chic-Fil-A a permit to open a restaurant in my ward.” Chil-Fil-A owns a property in the alderman’s ward. Mr. Moreno may not have had complete control of his thinking abilities at the time he issued his statement because part of his statement is a double-edged sword: “There are consequences for one’s actions …” Just because Dan Cathy does not believe in gay marriage, does it give Joe Moreno the right to discriminate on Cathy’s viewpoint and even brag about violating the constitution? Apparently, Moreno is also guilty of being ignorant on how democracy works and should also face consequences for his actions.
In democracy, there is no room for viewpoint discrimination, America is supposed to be the land of free speech. The LGBT agenda groups were also quick to jump on the issue. Since Dan Cathy supported anti-gay movements, the LGBT groups were automatically wagging their fingers and claiming this is discrimination. But when Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos donated $2.5 million to further the cause of same-sex marriages, no one made a big deal of it.
The LGBT has a right to their beliefs on life and the option to be united in marriage and their opponents also have the right to disagree. Has anyone heard the phrase to each his own? The root of the problem is that discrimination is being exploited and easily turns the opinion giving into a one way street. People and companies are being bullied into submission by agendists because of fear of being accused of discrimination.
Left wing, right wing, straight and gay agenda pushers are given the privilege to sell whatever it is that they need support for but it does not give them the right to shove their opinions into the throats of others. Bullying has become a trend nowadays and a lot of people do not take note of that. True democracy hears out the opinions of both sides regardless of how harsh or how opposed it may be but in the end RESPECTS either side’s viewpoint.
There has been a campaign from LGBT groups and supporters to boycott Chic-Fil-A because they state that their money is being used for anti-gay campaigns but these people need to know that it is no longer any of their business where the money will be spent because technically that is already Chic-Fil-A’s money since they have to pay for the meal they ate. Simple analogy for those incapable of understanding the analogy, if you are an employee, you get your salary, does your boss tell you what you should do with your money?
Celebrities and politicians are now being scrutinized the moment they are caught eating a Chic-Fil-A sandwich where the press plays out if that person is against same-sex marriages or not. People don’t over analyze, it is just a sandwich which will end up in the toilet seat after a few hours! Word of advice, when you bite into a Chic-Fil-A sandwich; just chew, swallow and drink some soda and iced tea. Don’t make a big fuss out of it.
